My practice is based upon an exploration of the landscape and the emotion it evokes. I draw inspiration from folklore, notions of the sublime and traditional landscape painting. Oil paint is my medium of choice, as it allows me to go back to the landscapes that I love and to spend time exploring the details of what I originally experienced in one single fading moment. I perceive the forest as a surreal place, a breeding ground for something magical and powerful. Through my paintings I delve into themes such as loneliness and belonging, often by letting unexpected entities take full dominion of the landscape. By juxtaposing the raw landscape against unnatural bright lines, I aim to blur the line between fantasy and reality, and to highlight the mood of the landscape.
