The main motivation for my practice is the desire to capture transient moments in time. A recurring inspiration is the shifting light on the Scottish landscape, and I am intent on distilling these moments within my work.
The meteorological palette of Scotland fascinates me, specifically the intrinsic dull greyness of it all, which can be seen to illuminate the land. Through layering varnishes, inks, and paint onto archival photo transfers, I am partially addressing my heritage while capturing the quality of light, thus creating a more abstracted version of these events and my feelings.
