Dominique Cameron RSW

I am an artist who walks. This is the basis for my practice, where I begin my narration of landscape in this process of storytelling. At the heart lies an idea of exploration, of what is there, what has been there, what could be there. This articulates as drawn artefact, written document and as a painted re-imagined memory of that space.

Education

1989-92 – Napier University, Edinburgh – B.A Photography (Distinction). Agfa bursary and Final year award winner ( Hamilton- Tait Award ).

2013- 14 – Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee – MFA Art, Society and Publics. Award for outstanding academic achievement.

As an artist I am interested in mapping. My practice has evolved to include drawing, painting, text, performance and film. I am currently exploring how walking and the experience of landscape is brought together as a form of map to travel through, as a narrative form. The embarkation point is always the single, static viewpoint and concludes with a journey of the walk or experience of a particular place. This storytelling echoes how I navigate my way through the landscape.

I work with Fidra Fine art, Tatha Gallery, Whitehouse Gallery and Stafford Gallery, Wimbledon.
