Fanny Arnesen

Artist Statement

My current artistic practice is rooted in the exploration of landscapes and the emotions they evoke. Through the medium of oil painting, I delve into the emotional undercurrents of a place, experience or state of being, utilising the composition of a landscape as a vessel to carry these emotions.

By spending time in nature, I feel connected to something beyond myself. It soothes my soul.

Through my paintings I aim to bring this experience of the outdoors inside, visualising contexts beyond what the eye can see.

The core of my recent body of work revolves around themes of spirituality, darkness and solitude, embodied through a kind of “altar-making” in the form of oil paintings. I draw inspiration from mysticism, folklore and observing nature. Artist Bio
